Saint Joseph, Pillar of Families

I didn't use to pray novenas.  I always thought that praying directly to God was better.  But I read this passage from the Bible: "The continual prayer of a just man availeth much." - James 5:16 I thought of the matter more and now I see that novenas are a humble way of praying.  It is asking those closest to Jesus (and holiest) people who walked the earth, to pray for me. This is not a new way of doing things as Moses intervened for the Jews when God wanted to punish them for making a bull with their own hands and started worshipping them. I now think God is pleased whenever I pray a novena.    Since then, I have seen so many SIGNS AND WONDERS in myself and in my circumstances because I prayed a novena.   I credit Saint Joseph for my happy home life and also for helping us with our finances though the best thing for me is the way novenas help us to lead holy lives.  The saints want no applause but rather, they will always draw us closer to God.   Instead of idolizing cel

God is Always Near

This is Mary Magdalene weeping and confused.  In the middle of all the pain and suffering due to Jesus' death, now this loss of His body.

Sometimes we feel like all hope is lost, that who or what we have been believing in has betrayed us and has let us down. Sometimes we feel God has forgotten us.

But He made a promise, that He will be with us always, that His Spirit will be with us!

"The promise is made to you and to your children and to all those far off, whomever the Lord your God will call." - Acts 2:39

Just like Mary, we don't recognize Jesus right away, but He is right there beside us.

"You keep track of all my sorrows.  You have collected all my tears in Your bottle.  You have recorded each one in Your book." - Psalm 56:8

Thank You Lord for always being there for me!  When I am happy, you are the cause of my joy and when I am sad, you are there to collect my tears and weep with me!  Your faithful love is so unfathomable!

"He is faithful in all He does...The earth is full of His unfailing love... May Your kindness, Oh Lord, be upon us who put our hope in You" - Psalm 33:4-5, 22

  1. What beautiful artwork. I've always loved the verse giving us hope in our despair--that God collects our tears. Sometimes I feel so small in light of the vastness of His followers. And yet still my tears, my sorrows are important to Him. What a great thought to begin the day.

  3. Like you, I've always thought Mary's sad plea, "They have taken my Lord away" so poignant. Easter Day brings joy, but sometimes it doesn't project into happy circumstances. This year, a friend passed away the evening of Holy Saturday and this Easter Sunday, both Mary's comments and the promise that He is risen meant something quite new and wonderful.

  4. Hi Christina! I know it's late but I'd still like to greet you Happy Easter!

Thank you for sharing this powerful message. The illustrations are great and so as the bible passages and reflections. By the way, I think you can be great author of Christian story books for kids. You have a unique and special way of sharing the Holy Scripture.
