Do You Need a Miracle?

Have you ever experienced a miracle?  Do you want to experience one today?

One such lady was hoping for a miracle and hoped against hope she would get one that day.  She had a medical condition that led her to a tremendous loss of blood for 12 years.

Blood is sacred, the representation of life to the Jews back then. Every part of her life was probably affected by this illness and she felt like she was withering away.

She already went from doctor to doctor only to make things worse.  She was not afraid of being ridiculed for going with the throngs to see someone to whom she pinned all her hopes on.  Jesus.  With one touch of His cloak she was instantly healed!  A miracle.
- Luke 8:43-47

The lady's experience is in the realm of the supernatural.  She taught me 2 lessons if I want to receive a miracle.

The first lesson is faith.  I have to believe to receive a miracle.  Jesus was not asked for a miracle.  His power just instantly worked on the woman's healing without Him willing it.  He said to her "Daughter, your faith has healed you. Go in peace’”.  Without us believing the miracle can happen, it won't.

Inversely, Jesus who could still the storm, multiply bread and raise the dead couldn't heal a lot of people in His hometown.

Only in his hometown, among his relatives and in his own house is a prophet without honor.” 5He could not do any miracles there, except lay his hands on a few sick people and heal them. 6And he was amazed at their lack of faith.(Mark 6)

The second lesson is that we have to touch Jesus.  The woman had to fight her way through the crowd to get to Jesus.  It was uncomfortable, it wasn't an easy task specially for someone who was sick.  Jesus is still the source of the miracles, everything good in this life.

Who can we touch to be healed today?  Jesus in His distressing disguise for me is the poor, the sick, the ugly, the depressed, the tiresome.  If you touch that aunt who's always grumpy, the street person who always asks for some change, or visit those in prison, you're touching Jesus.

"whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers of mine, you did for me." (Matthew 25:40)

When we touch Jesus, we get our miracle.

I pray for you who need a miracle today, for greater faith (that only God's grace can give) and for the opportunity to touch Jesus.
