Along the Path

"Does the walker choose the path, or the path the walker?"
 - Garth Nix

Do you sometimes feel like you are in uncharted territories?  That each has a path to take and we can't take anyone with us?

It can be a road to growth, a bright new future or to changes never foreseen before.

Wherever we may be on our personal trails, we know that we are never alone.  God is on the path with us for He made it and knows where it leads.

“You never know what's around the corner. It could be everything. Or it could be nothing. You keep putting one foot in front of the other, and then one day you look back and you've climbed a mountain.”

The Way of Life

Sometimes the path of life seems a bit too overwhelming.  The road seems dark and dreary and too tiresome to go on.

But just as one can be stilled and silenced by how far one must still go, the best way is still to make one step forward and just begin.

"Walk while you have the light"
John 12:35

Cherish Our Families

Every single day there is much to be thankful for.  Our families for instance.  They are our strength when it comes to difficult times.

It can be a mothers smile that brightens many of our days or the fact that ordinary days are priceless gifts from above.

We are a part of God's family if we so choose it.  Whenever we smile at our heavenly Father, it warms his heart.

"...neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:39

It's Raining Again

"Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants." Deuteronomy 32:2

Dear Friends,

It's been raining in Manila for the past 4 days now and some of us are in over our heads!

PHOTO: REUTERS, Romeo Ranoco

It is a big blessing that my Dad chose a home for us high on a hill so he says if we get flooded, the whole Manila will be underwater already!

Still despite our safety, one cannot help but think of the thousands being stranded in their homes, some getting caught in their cars and makeshift refugee shelters.  They badly need our help.

It is still raining as I type so please say a prayer for the rains to stop and the rainbows to come!

Thank you!

Just Beyond Our Front Step

Flowers are so lovely!  They tell us all will be well and that life is beautiful.

WOYWW: Bits of This and That

Hello,

This is my first time sharing my desk!  It's not usually this chaotic.  It's mostly boring really or with a black cat occupying all of its space.

This time I wanted to share a little something I made for my mom.  She likes beautiful handmade things so I thought she would like this.  It's made from scraps of wallpaper all hot glued together.

Trusting in The Lord

Sometimes it is hard to trust in the Lord specially when circumstances around you are telling you to go ahead and worry.  This is the time that we have to live by faith and not by sight.

And to always give thanks...

The brighter day is still on its way!

When it comes, we will smile, even laugh at the days to come!

Sow For a Destiny

Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny. - Charles Reade

Is it a time of reaping for you or a time to harvest?

In Exodus 23:10 God commanded His people to sow six years and rest on the seventh.  God says the same thing in Leviticus 25:3.  He will make the harvest so great on the sixth year that you can rest for the succeeding years to come.

This tells me that God provides for us enough so we can rest.  Six days of the week we work biput we must rest on the seventh day.  We all know that God Himself rested on the 7th day so if we want to be like God we should rest like He rests.

Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:9 tells us that God commands we don't mix up the seeds we sow.  If we look at this in the spiritual sense, we cannot sow generosity and selfishness at the same time.  Our generosity won't bear the fruit that we are waiting for.

Each and every day of our lives we are sowing.  Are we sowing seeds of righteousness or sinfulness? What fruits are we aiming to see in the years to come?  Are we sowing the seeds that will result in this fruit or are we just hoping it turns out the way we want it?

God Himself did some sowing.  He sowed His Word but He did so on the various landscapes of people's hearts.  If we recall the Parable of the Sower, we will wish we were the ground that carried the seed that multiplied a thousandfold.

Sowing is undoubtedly, a hard task.  It is hard to keep being patient when each day it is tried and tested.  It is hard to wake up early every day to do your morning prayers.  it is hard to forgive someone who has betrayed you.  But wait, a promise...

Psalm 126:5 says
5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Lets keep sowing seeds of righteousness!

Caturday Birthday Party

Last night was the very first feline party I've attended (and hosted)!  It was Midnight's 1st birthday party!  We all had a meow-velous time!

Prior to the event I only had a limited time to prepare so I just created some cat ears from black construction paper and headbands.

I put some flowers in a candle holder.

I  looked for cat stuff to decorate our home with.

Here I am with the ears on.  Hmmm they seem a bit small don't they?

I made a witty welcomeow sign.

I strung up cat calendar pics and at one point, Midnight wanted to tug at the ribbon and rope!

When people came in we served some snacks in this Japanese bowl.

We served Puss-to Puss- ta, Sole Fillet, and Meowditerranean Salad (which I put together).

Some of our guests looked like they were growing some whiskers!

I made a cute little cat party giveaway using black paper, metallic pen and a ribbon.

What's a party without fun and games?  The challenging e was to get a good picture of Midnight for my kitty album.

Everything went purrrrfectly well!

Midnight's Happy 1st Birthday!

Yey!  Celebration! It's my cat Midnight's 1st birthday!  Weeeee!  We are so blessed to have this cute "miracle cat!".

Just one story about him.

One time when he was a weee little kitty, I had to have him checked at the vet.

I remembered the last time - he had to spend the night there to be on IV and get his strength back.  Consequently the next day he was strong and ready to go home.  I thought he was just restless but then while driving home, Midnight just HAD to relieve himself... in the car.  He peed on my lap and then pooped near the pedals (eeww right?)

All I thought was "poor kitty he didn't do it the whole time 'cause he didn't want to do it in a strange place."  I kind of felt honored that he felt so secure with me that he could do it there (just to the detriment of the car!)

This time around I told him.... "Midnight, we are going to vet again.  Can you please not poop and pee in the car?  I guess just the thought of the vet makes him so nervous that this is what happened.

When I got to the vet, I needed to leave Midnight in the car for a bit to ask for assistance inside.  When I got back, I noticed the smell and thought "Oh no".   But when I looked in the back seat, there on the white seat covers was a little receipt (around 1" x 3").  Laying neatly on top of it was Midnight's poop.  I was so thankful to him for looking for a receipt to put it on top of so I wouldn't have to get the whole back seat cover washed.  Nothing was on the seat cover because the poop was so neatly centered on the receipt!!!  What a smart cat!  I didn't even know where he got that small slip of paper!

Oh well I thank God for him because I have so many stories of his cute ways.  I just hope and pray God gives him a long long life.

DIY Wrapping Paper

Just yesterday I needed to wrap a gift for a celebration and didn't realize I ran out of wrapping paper. So I cut up magazine pages (that had a similar color tone) and pieced it together.  Don't you think it looks nice?

Mother Mary and the Child Jesus

Mary pondered all these things in her heart.

Lets do some pondering.

During bible times, a widow losing a son meant losing her life.  Only men could earn a living therefore a widow could only live on what people spared to give her.

The prophet Elijah prayed that a widow's son be brought to life and Jesus Himself at Naim touched the coffin of the son of a widow to also bring him back to life.

In these instances, God healed and brought back to life.

When Jesus died, He took away the Blessed Mother's life, made her a widow on our behalf, so that we may live. We are all dead through sin and Jesus saved our lives by dying on the cross.  In so doing, she became our Mother, we who were brought back to life are God's adopted sons and daughters.

Black Midnight

I thought I'd let my cat do today's blog post just to see what he would put up with.  So here goes...

Howdy folks meowy name is Midnight.  I'm exactly a year old this meownth so bear with me with meowy spelling.

Just a day ago, a little kitty appeared in meowy family's front door.  It was my doppelgänger from a year ago when I was found in a dumpster.

Well imagine to meowy consternation, the kitty started running to me shouting "PAPA!" "PAPA"! in a loud irritating voice.  It was so hungry!  It climbed the screen wanting to get in!

My human meowmmy said to the kitten, "someone might want to be your meomma!  Sit still don't move!!!" At that moment the apparently smart kitten sat down and gave the following pose...

Well I daresay this kitty knew the meowoooves!!!

Due to the irresistible pose about ten people wanted to get him that day!!!  Whoever dropped this kitty off at our front porch knew what he was doing!  That very night kitty was delivered by my meowmmy to his new meowmmy.

Today is a different story.  I am grounded. This morning my meowmmy could not resist my pleading to go out and play with my buddies outside.  When I got home I had a nasty half inch wound on my right backside.  She said I can't go out forever and ever and ever.  Hmmmmpffff!!!!

Instead she kept taking pictures of me again at the oddest moments.  That's all for now. As they say in Italy Chmeow!!!
