Sow For a Destiny

Sow an act and you reap a habit. Sow a habit and you reap a character. Sow a character and you reap a destiny. - Charles Reade

Is it a time of reaping for you or a time to harvest?

In Exodus 23:10 God commanded His people to sow six years and rest on the seventh.  God says the same thing in Leviticus 25:3.  He will make the harvest so great on the sixth year that you can rest for the succeeding years to come.

This tells me that God provides for us enough so we can rest.  Six days of the week we work biput we must rest on the seventh day.  We all know that God Himself rested on the 7th day so if we want to be like God we should rest like He rests.

Leviticus 19:19 and Deuteronomy 22:9 tells us that God commands we don't mix up the seeds we sow.  If we look at this in the spiritual sense, we cannot sow generosity and selfishness at the same time.  Our generosity won't bear the fruit that we are waiting for.

Each and every day of our lives we are sowing.  Are we sowing seeds of righteousness or sinfulness? What fruits are we aiming to see in the years to come?  Are we sowing the seeds that will result in this fruit or are we just hoping it turns out the way we want it?

God Himself did some sowing.  He sowed His Word but He did so on the various landscapes of people's hearts.  If we recall the Parable of the Sower, we will wish we were the ground that carried the seed that multiplied a thousandfold.

Sowing is undoubtedly, a hard task.  It is hard to keep being patient when each day it is tried and tested.  It is hard to wake up early every day to do your morning prayers.  it is hard to forgive someone who has betrayed you.  But wait, a promise...

Psalm 126:5 says
5They that sow in tears shall reap in joy.
6He that goeth forth and weepeth, bearing precious seed, shall doubtless come again with rejoicing, bringing his sheaves with him.

Lets keep sowing seeds of righteousness!
