Happy Filipino Heritage Festival Month! May is a busy time under the sun in the Philippines. As the weather rises, families flock to the beaches and to places like the mountain province to enjoy cooler weather. Parents would take the children out of town and go on vacations since a lot of the school children are on break. It's the time of year where 2 popular festivals take place: the Pulilan Carabao Festival [May 14-15] and the Pahiyas Festival [May 15]. These genuinely Filipino traditional events are full of fun and feasting so it's a big draw even for tourists. My summers as a child were spent drawing and painting on products we would sell at our family gift shop. Being the youngest had its perks. My siblings generously made toys for me. My sister drew a paper doll girl with colored pencils and my brother drew a paper doll guy using watercolor. They also drew and colored the clothes to go with it. My Little Nature Book

My parents never cease to amaze me. I came home with a copy of my newly published book(let) about Nature and showed it to them. I underestimated their reaction of delight, appreciation and imagine that... pride! They kept on asking where I got the talent and I reminded them of both their fathers who are writers! My mom's dad is the Father of Visayan literature or so an article I read once said. My father's dad on the other hand was the first Methodist bishop in the country and was a prolific writer. Not that this little book qualifies as a "book" book. It's a tribute to one of the caretakers of my childhood ... Mother Nature. Nothing is Wasted

Nothing will be wasted. How can something so little become wasted? How can something so ordinary become precious? How can something so scarce become overflowing? Two fish and five barley loaves were all that the little boy had. This was just barely enough for one person and maybe his friends but he gave it all up because Jesus was asking for food. No one else had anything to give at that point, only this little boy.. Jesus blessed this humble offering and gave it to the multitudes. Somehow, the food multiplied ! So much so that 12 wicker baskets were gathered! Even so, each fragment was not to be wasted. Oftentimes I complain to God that my efforts are often in vain. Freebie Font: Bright Future and Shaded Letters

It's Freebie time! I love the weekends when I can sit down and give away something nice. I made 2 fonts recently and though it's free just for personal use, you can sure make a lot of happy letters with it, signage, posters, gifts with this type of font. The first one I made was for the Bright Future Graduation issue of our shop's e-newsletter. It's a happy, sunshine-y type of font to use when you want to cheer up whatever it is you're writing. Download Link The second font, Shaded Letters is a bit more serious but still really has that positive jive that we all enjoy. Download Link To install, just go the the link and download the .ttf file. Once you have them downloaded already, you can go to your File Manager program and drag them to the C:/Windows/Fonts folder and you're done. For Mac users, click here. I do hope you enjoy using them. She was no ordinary mom, and I felt like she was with me as she was in all the important moments of my life. Mom must have whispered to God as soon as she set foot in heaven as I met Patrick only 3 months after mom passed on. Before she did, she imparted to us all the love, wisdom, talent, resourcefulness, pragmatism (and much more) that she had.
